Green jobs now: what are they and where are they?

Come listen to a variety of experts discuss the potential of a green future for Australia.

The demand for ‘Green jobs’ has been central in the Australian climate movement for many years now. The people of Australia recognise the importance of a just transition away from the fossil fuel sector and towards a greener economy. But what are green jobs and how can our society make the transition?

Hear about a range of possible green jobs from a lineup of guests who have experience in the renewable energy industry, innovation and business, finance and investment, environmental management, academic research, science, activism, NGOs, and government and politics. We will also have time at the end to discuss what a green economy looks like for us and what we can do to help Australia have a just transition.

Event is organised by the UNSW Environment Collective and the UNSW Climate Change Network and is supported by UNSW Sustainability. Some of the guest speakers will include:

  • James McGregor, CEO Blue Tribe Company
  • Professor Daniel Robinson, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, UNSW
  • A/ Professor Kingsley Fong, School of Banking and Finance, UNSW
  • Professor Renate Egan, UNSW Lead, Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics
  • Jess Miller, City of Sydney Councillor
