We’re at an inflection point. COVID-19, the climate crisis, and a global reckoning on racial justice have forced us to rethink normal and created a new world of possibilities. Now it’s time to ask ourselves one simple question. What is the future we want?

Hear from 5 UNSW students and staff who recently trained under Al Gore to become Climate Reality Leaders. They all come from different parts of UNSW but are united in the desire for urgent and effective climate action.

Their presentation provides simple explanation of how humans are accelerating the natural global warming of the world and explores international and local impacts of climate change. More importantly, it share hopeful signs that the world is rising to meet the challenge of reducing emissions, and provide concrete ways that you can make a difference - at UNSW and beyond. Speakers are:

  • Sarah McInnes - Fourth year Advanced Science and Arts student, studying Chemistry and Politics and undertaking Honours in Chemistry in 2021.
  • Wenjing Wang - Juris Doctor at UNSW, practicing at Environmental Law and Civil Litigation
  • Belinda XieScientia PhD Candidate in the School of Psychology.
  • Nadya Serje - Civil Engineer finishing her Master of Engineering Science with specialisation in Sustainable Systems. 
  • Arifa Sarfraz - Manager, Environmental Sustainability at UNSW
